Abstract
This study was conducted at Latifia Experiments Station to follow up disease development of leaf rust caused by Puccinia recondita on some bread and durum wheat cultivars and to determine resistance gene in central region of Iraq. Results revealed variation in host response toward the disease. The maximum disease severities recorded on AL-Neda and Wahaa-Iraq were 81 and 76.7 % respectively. While the minimum severities were 6.8 and 35 % on Hashimia and Dour 29 respectively. The high infection rate reached 0.191 on AL-Tahadi while the low infection rate was 0.107 on Al-Hashimia, no infection appeared on Al-Nour and Al-Iraq cultivars.
