AbstractSeventy non-descriptive breed hens of 1-2 years age were examined and observed 60 (85.7%) hens were infected with various species of metazoan and protozoan parasites. Of (8) helminthes species recorded, Sublora suctoria was the most common nematodes, while Ascaridia galli, Heterakis gallinarum, Raillietina tetragona, Raillietina echinobothrida, Raillietina cesticillus, Hymenolepis caioca and Choanotaenia infundibulum, were also frequently observed. Eimeria oocysts were seen in the intestinal contents of 8 (11.4%) hens.
It was concluded from this study that local hens might be infected with certain helminthes and protozoan and special attention should be taken.
