AbstractThis study was carried out in three different apiaries close to Baghdad city (Abou Graib, College of Agric. Kan dhari) with 18 colonies of honey bee in each location during 1999-2000) season.
Result showed that the fungus Aspergillus flavus was responsible for the dark wax frames during the over wintering. Farther, the differences of the over wintering conditions effected the numbers of the infected frames by fungi in these locations. The colony with one or two layers which was uncovered had low number of infected frames with large brood area. While the colonies with one or two layers which covered with polister and Jute resulted large number of infected frames with low brood area. There lore, the colonies with one or two layers which were uncovered showed better performance and passed overwintering successfully under Baghdad city environmental conditions.
