Abstract

A field trial was conducted at Field Research Station, Abu- Ghraib of Agricultural Research Office during 2001 and 2002. To investigate genotypic and phenotypic correlation in rice under different seeding rates.Split plot arrangement according to RCBD with three replicates was used. Seeding rates 80, 120, 160, 200 and 240 kg ha-, were occupied main plots, while genotypes (15 different genotypes) were occupied sub plots.Statistical analysis showed positive significant genotypic and phenotypic correlation of paddy yield with number of panicles m-1 with 0.508 and 0.476, yield efficiency about 0.709 and 0.753, at first season, and with number of panicles m-1 as 0.768, 0.709 and yield efficiency by 0.805 and 0.835, at second season under 80 kg ha-1 and with number of panicles m-1 with 0.573 and 0.512 and yield efficiency about 0.777 and 0.752, at first season, and with number of grains per panicleas 0.511 and 0.311, biological yield by 0.441, 0.417 and yield efficiency with 0.752 and 0.710, at second season under 120 kg.ha-1, and with number of panicles m-1 as 0.486 and 0.470, number of grains per panicle with 0.611, 0.524, harvest index about 0.588 and 0.554 and yield efficiency with 0.770 and 0.724, at first season, and number of grains per panicle as 0.497 and 0.466, biological yield abut 0.795 and 0.740 and yield efficiency by 0.584 and 0.560, at second season under 160 kg h-1,
and with number of grains per panicle with 0.514 and 0.472, harvest index abut 0.532 and 0.509 and yield efficiency by 0.664 and 0.647, at first season, and with number of panicle m-1 as 0.494, 0.452, number of grains per panicle about 0.715 and 0.614, biological yield by 0.393 and 0.365 and yield efficiency as 0.874 and 0.858 at second season under 200 kg.ha-1, and with harvest index (0.461 and0.418), yield efficiency about 0.755 and 0.739, number of panicles m-1 with 0.721, 0.661 and number of grains per panicle by 0.349 and 0.322 at first season, and with number of grains per panicle about 0.805 and 0.670, biological yield with 0.607 and 0.579 and yield efficiency by 0.717, 0.694 at second season under 240 kg ha-1.It could be conclude that yield efficiency was correlated positively and significantly, genotypic and phenotypic with paddy yield at all seeding rates investigated, so that can be use it as a selection criteria to improve paddy yield at low and high seeding rates under central region condition of Iraq.
