Abstract
Aiming to identify the effect of 11 in peried genotypes (experimental synthetic varieties which were induced by hybridization among several introduced double crosses) with the open pollinated Variety (AL–Masarra) in two plant densities 53000, 66000 plant Ha-1, on grain yield and its components, two experiments were conducted in doubled full seasons 2010 and 2011, at Al-Tuwautha Experimental Station, Baghdad, Iraq. Results showed that several genotypes were exceeded on check Variety for all traits under investigation. The genotype (CA-1*DK-3)*(SC-5*WH-7) was the highest in number of ears plant-1, and genotype (SC-3*CZ-4)*(CZ-2*ZA-3) gave the further number of rows ear-1. Whereas, the genotype (ZA-3*WH-1)*(WH-3 *ZA-3) gave the highest number of grains and grain Yield plant-1. Genotype (WH-7*SC-3)*(CZ-H*CZ-2) gave the heaviest weight of grain 210.25 g. The effect of plant density was not significant for almost all traits under investigation except the number of grains in row. Current results may reflects the utilization from specific induced genotypes as new synthetic varieties due to its good yield and may be introduce in breeding program for increasing the genetic base of corn.
