ROLE OF PHOSPHOGYPSUM AND HUMIC ACIDS IN THE GROWTH AND YIELD OF BARLEY AND GRAIN CONTENT OF N P K IN SALINE SOIL

To study the effect of phosphogypsum and humic acids in the growth and yield of barley in saline soil. A field experiment was conducted in calcareous soil (Saline - Sodic), her salinity before addition of the study factors was 73.78 dS m-1. After plowing, smoothing and leveling, the field is divided into three replicates according to the design (RCBD), where each replicate included 16 experimental units (plot) with an area of 3.0 m2, four levels of phosphogypsum 0, 5, 10 and 15 tons ha-1 with symples PG0,PG1, PG2 and PG3 respectively, and four levels of humic acids 0, 50, 100 and 150 kg ha-1 with symples HA0, HA1, HA2 and HA3 respectively, were added and mixed with the surface layer 0-15 cm for each plot at random. After the addition was carried out the leaching process of soil by adding leaching water equivalent to twice the size of soil pores to a depth of 0-30 cm, then the values of ECe and ESP reached a depth of 0-30 cm at a rate of 17.71 dS m-1 and 8.02 % sequentially, the seeds of barley were planted in lines. After harvest, the height of the plant, the straw yield, the grain yield per hectare, and the nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content were measured. The results showed a significant increase in all the traits of growth and production of barley plants by increasing the level of addition, whether of phosphogypsum or humic acids, the interaction between phosphogypsum and humic acids gave a highest increase in the growth and yield characteristics. As the treatment PG3HA3 was given the highest rate of plant height, straw yield and grain yield per hectar, 100.32%, 183.55% and 99.10% sequentially relative to the non-additive treatment. The grain content of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium was significantly increased by increasing the level of addition, whether of phosphogypsum or humic acids, the interaction between phosphogypsum and humic acids showed the highest increase in grain content of the three elements. As the treatment PG3HA3 was given the highest concentration of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium with an increase of 169.62%, 69.52% and 112.81% sequentially relative to the non-additive treatment.

Effect of different level of organic and nitrogen fertilizers on fruit yield apple.(Malus domestica ) CV.ANNA

This study was carried out during the growing season at 2007 and 2008 on apple cv Anna in private orchard at Radwania region (35 km – western Baghdad ).Trees were planted according to square method. This investigation aimed to verify the effect of different level of organic(0 ,5 , 10 , 15 kg/tree) and nitrogen for the former and (0 , 300 ,400 ,500g urea/tree) fertilizer on yield respectively. A randomized complete Block Design (RCBD) was used (with three replicates for each treatment combination). Result revealed that the treatment of (15 kg/tree)of organic fertilizer was superior significantly in fruit yield (82.29 kg ree) and other quality characteristics as compared with other treatments plants , whereas the lowest yield was that of the control untreated trees plants (67.54 kg/tree) . Nitrogen fertilizer of (500 g urea /tree) gave the highest fruit yield (89.02 kg ree) and highest quality values as compared with other treatments , Similarly a lower fruit Yield (56.08 kg/tree) was found in control trees. A significant interaction effect were recorded between the two fertilizer used regarding fruit yield and other quality traits .Organic fertilizer at 15 kg/tree with urae at 500 g urea/ gave the highest fruit yield(103.33 kg/tree) , whereas control treatment gave the lowest yield (45 kg/tree) . It can be concluded that organic fertilizer level of 15 kg /tree and nitrogen fertilizer level of 500 g urea/tree may be used effectively for higher fruit yield and quality characteristics cv Anna apple.

Effect of nitrogen fertilizer on some growth characteristics for corn genotype (Zea mays L.)

A field experiment was carried out in two seasons (autumn and spring) respectively in College of Agriculture University of Al - Anbar to study effect of nitrogen levels on some growth characteristics for six genotypes under different level of nitrogen Split plot design in R.C.B.D. with three replicates. Nitrogen fertilizer levels in main plot, while genotypes were arranaged as sub_plot .The results indicted that leaf area index and dry weight were a significant differences effect in genotype and nitrogen fertilizer However, the genotype IPA 5012 instrenght in growth where give highest rate to leaf area index amounts (3.922 and 3.830) for two seasons respectively, and excellence the same genotype lpa 5012 and single hybiridize (spiro-440663) in the dry weight, give weight amounts (353.66 and 365.55 gram/ plant) for two seasons respectively.

Effect of Nitrogen Fertilization and Calcium Spraying in Garlic productivity and improve the quality

This study was conducted at the field of the Department of Horticulture – College of Agriculture – University of Baghdad – Abu Ghraib during the growing season (2005 – 2006)to study the effect of nitrogen fertilization and calcium spraying on growth and yield in local garlic cultivar, The experiment include 9 treatments wich were the interactions between three levels of nitrogen fertilization,[ no fertilization(N0) ,80 kg/ha ( N1) and 160 kg / ha( N2)] and three concentrations of calcium foliar application ,[ no spraying( Ca0) , 2,5 gm ( Ca1) and 5 gm (Ca2)] ,Each treatment replicated three times in Factorial Experimental arrangement with RCBD . The experimental Results showed that interaction ofnitrogen fertilization and calcium spraying (N2Ca2) significantly gave the highest plant height of 54,36 cm , dry weight of Total vegetative of 18,52 gm and the highest average bulb weight of50,85gm and the highest number of cloves per bulb of 33,16 and yield of 15,45 ton / ha-1 .while the lowest values of these parameters were found in the control treatment (N0Ca0). The T.S.S and cloves diameterdid not affected by nitrogen and calcium treatments.

Effect of Magnetic Conditioning of Saline Water Characteristics on corn plants growth (Zea mays L.) and up take of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium

A biological Pots experiment was conducted in lath house of soil and water sci.Dept. using silty clay loam Typic Torrifluvent soil collected form Agriculture College fields. The soil was fertilized by 240 kg N.ha-1 as Urea fertilizer ,75 kg P.ha-1 as super phosphate and 120 kg K.ha-1 as Potassium sulphate fertilize. Corn seeds were planted in spring 2007 irrigated by tap water with electrical conductivity of 0.4 dS.m-1 and drainage saline water 7.4 ds.m-1 with and without magnetic . 10 Weeks after planting , plants were harvested, hights and dry weight of shoots were measured also total uptake of N,P and K nutrients were measured .
The results of this experiment showed that Corn Plants hight ,dry weights ,total uptake of N,P and K nutrients were significantly decreased when drainage saline water used as campared with tap water with decreament 10.8 ,28.9 ,17.7 ,22.7 ,17.8 % of these characters respectively. On other hand magnetic water significantly increased all studied characters as compared with non-magnetic. The increase were 17.7 ,34.6 ,23.8 ,28.4 ,21.9 % for plant hight , dry matter weight ,total uptake of N ,P and K nutrients respectively. The results also indicated that there was a significant interaction between water quality and magnetic water , The highst values were obtined with magnetic tap water treatment with no significant differences between magnetic saline drainage water and non-magnetic tap water.

An Economic Analysis of Wheat Response to Nitrogen and Seeds

The aim of this work is to estimate the optimum level of nitrogen and seeds which achieve economic efficiency .
Different forms of production functions were estimated . The quadratic form was the one which fulfils the statistical and econometrical criteria and was consistent with economic and biological logic. The results had shown that the optimum level of nitrogen was 299 kgs./ha while it was 139 kgs./ha for seeds . Some derivatives were derived such as isoquants , expansion path , derived demand on inputs and marginal rate of substitution . Some recommendations were forwarded .

Effect of different level of nitrogen fertilizers and plant spacing in growth characters and yield of egg plant

This study was conducted to study the effect of different level of nitrogen fertilizer and plant spacing in growth characteries and yield componence of egg plant in Al- Saklawia in Al-Anbar governor during the growing season 2004. Nitrogen levels were 0 , 40 , 80 and 120kg N/ Donnum and with spacing of 40 , 80 , 120 cm. The experimental design was R.C.B.D. with 3 replicate. The treatment (120 kg N/ Donnum) significantly increased, plant height, dry weight (gm) at a rate of 53.39 % and 63.03% respectively as compared with the control, while the treatment with (40 kg N/ Donnum) significantly increased number of branches / plant at a rate of 38.06%.
There are no significant effect of plant spacing on vegetative growth except as noticeable increases on plant height (cm) number of branches / plant dry weight at a rate of 0.03%, 1.45%, 4.9% respectively.
The effect of different level of nitrogen fertilizer upon the yield and yield componences was shown that the treatment with 120kg N/ Donnum gave the highest number of fruit / plant, weight of fruit, total yields which reached 80.33%, 71.67% and 88.44% respectively. While there were no significant differences between plant spacing in these effects on the yield and yield componence with a noticeable increases in the spacing of 120 cm. as compared with 40 cm .
Using a spacing of 120 cm. and treatment with 120 kg N/ Donnum nitrogen significantly increased plant height (cm), branches / plant, dry weight (gm), number of fruit / plant fruit weight (gm) and total yield ton / Donnum . We can recommended a spacing of 120 cm and fertilizing with 120 kg N/ Donnum nitrogen to give the highest growth and yield per unit area.

EFFECT OF NITROGEN FERTILIZER IN GROWTH AND YIELD (Zea mays L.)

Field experiment was conducted at field crops dep.-Agriculture college / Al-Anbar University for two Seasons, spring and fall during 2000. the objective of study was to study the effect of nitrogen fertilizer in growth and yield of corn. Split-Plot Design was used with three replicates. N fertilizer levels took up the main plot, while genotypcs were arranaged into Sub-Plot. The results showed significant differences among all of two factors levels, for all characteristics exception of humidity %. The increasing in N addition, increased the total, grain total, thickness of Ear, CoZ weight and leaf area of plant, for Both Seasons, respectively. Highest grain yield was gained from 320 kgm N . ha-1 of (10.2 and 4.7) ton . ha-1, for Both season, respectively. 320 kgm N. ha-1 gave highest coz weight of (700.6 and 600.0) gm and ear thickness of 16.0 and 17.2 cm, for both season, respectively. Also, the same level gave higher leaf area of (53.28 and 58.83) cm2, for both seasons, respectively. There wasn't significant differences in grain humidity %.

Effect of Autumn Foliar Sprays with Nitrogen on Two Verities of Jujube ( Z. mauritiana and Z. spina-christi )

This study was conducted at the College of Agriculture , University of Baghdad / Abu-Ghraib during Autumn 2002 to study the effect of foliar sprays with three levels of nitrogen ( 0, 10, 20 gm / N / L) using Urea as a source for the nitrogen on varities of Jujube (Ziatuny and Tuffahi) while belong to the species Z. mauritiana and the other three varieties (Bambawi, Mallasii and Bathri) which belong to the species Z. spinachristi.

Randomized Complete Block Design were adapted with three replicate .
The results can be summarized as follows:
The Zaituny varity gave the highest stem length and diameter and the hargest angle between the stem and the branches and the highest percentage of dry weight and nitrogen content of leaves and the roots dry weights.
Al-Batheri varity gave the highest branches on the mainstem, largest number of leaves and leaf area of the plant and the number and length of thorn.
The Tufahi varity gave the lowest total area and the highest root length and diameter , while the highest leaf area was in Bambawi varity.
Using 20 g / L nitrogen gave the highest length and diameter of main stem, number of branches on main stem, their length, angle width, number of leaves, leaf area, total leaf area per plant and highest length and diameter of main roots.
The interaction between varities and fertilizer treatments have the significant effects on the studied characteristics.

EFFET OF HIGH LEVELS OF NITROGEN FERTILIZER ON GROWTH AND GRAIN YIELD OF TRITICALE

Field experiment was carriedout in the seasons of 2002 – 2003 and 2003 – 2004 at the fieldsof Saqlawala Zone to study the effects of gigh levels from nitrogen fertilizer of (80 – 160 – 240) kg N / ha on growth, yield components, grain yield of triticale, the experiment was designed according to R.C.B.D. with four replication. Significant differences were found for all characteries in two seasons. The highest plant height, number of tillers, ieaf area and ieaf area index of 120 day, 132.19, 241.47, 125.15 and 3.29 respectively was obtained from treatment (240) kg N / ha and aiso give the maximum numder of spikes, numder of graim per spike, weight of thousand grains / g, biological yield, grain yield and harvest index 201.75, 76.05, 38.93 gm, 13333.07 kg / ha, 4600.48 kg / ha and 34.92 % respectively for both seasons 2002 – 2003 and 2003 –2004.
