الملخص
تٌعرف البذور الصناعية بانها أجنة جسدية مغلفة بشكل مصطنع أو أجزاء نباتية أخرى مثل براعم الفلقة أو مجاميع الخلايا أو براعم إضافية أو حويصلات دقيقة أخرى، بشرط أن يكون لديها القدرة على أن تُزرع كبذور وأن تُنمو لتصبح نباتًا تحت ظروف المختبر أو خارج المختبر. يعد إنتاج البذور الصناعية طريقة مناسبة للتوسع على نطاق واسع للإنتاج التجاري متعدد النسخ. إذ من الممكن استغلال التكاثر الدقيق من خلال البذور الصناعية على نطاق واسع، فقد يصبح إنبات ملايين النباتات في غضون أيام قليلة مربحا تجارياً في المستقبل القريب، وتنافس اقتصاديا البذور الحقيقية. فضلا عن ذلك، فإن استخدام هذه التقنية يوفر المساحة والوسط والوقت الذي تتطلبه طرق زراعة الأنسجة التقليدية. يتميز إنتاج البذور الصناعية بمزايا كبيرة مقارنة بأساليب زراعة الأنسجة التقليدية. كما وتعد البذور الصناعية غير مكلفة نسبيًا في الإنتاج ويسهل التعامل معها وانباتها ونقلها. ويمكن أيضًا تخزينها لفترة طويلة باستخدام تقنيات التجفيف والحفظ بالتبريد.
